Find your gold-and-blue spirit with the new Mountaineer Mascot and E. Gordon Gee, a 'born-again Mountaineer'

There's a new Mountaineer in town and his name is Michael Garcia. But you don't need the bushy beard to embody the Mountaineer spirit, as Garcia and President Gordon Gee explain

There’s a new Mountaineer in town.

His name is Michael Garcia, a junior political science major from Fairmont, W.Va.

In this video, Garcia sits down with West Virginia University President E. Gordon Gee to discuss what it truly means to be the Mountaineer and represent Mountaineers everywhere.

But take note: You do not need to wear the buckskins to embody the Mountaineer spirit, as Garcia and Gee conclude.

All it takes is grit, determination and the drive to climb higher.

Gee calls himself a ‘born-again Mountaineer,’ enchanted by the pride, passion and warm hearts of the Mountaineer community.

Watch Gee and Garcia pay heed to the power of being a Mountaineer.
