West Virginia University has opened two new dining establishments on the Evansdale Campus for students.

da Vinci’s, a grab-and-go cafe serving a variety of sandwiches, salads and soups, is located on the first floor of the Evansdale Library. Along with breakfast, lunch and dinner, da Vinci’s also touts full espresso coffee service. This eatery was designed to serve busy students and library regulars, and it expands beyond traditional grab-and-go locations.

The Greenhouse Caf, located in the new Health and Education Building, offers students the opportunity to incorporate healthy dining by using gluten-free and additive-free meats, whole-grain breads and fresh fruit and vegetables. The caf will also serve Nutri-Blend juices and smoothies. The Evansdale Greenhouse will use the caf to showcase their projects as they are harvested throughout the year.

WVU Firsthand Coffee, a campus favorite, is also the coffee provider for both locations.

WELLWVU and the WVU Libraries were instrumental in both concept and menu development,” said David Friend, director for WVU Dining Services. “We wanted to create establishments that best serve the needs of our students while keeping up the area’s continued growth.”

Both locations accept dining plans, dining dollars, Mounty Bounty, credit, debit and cash payments.

The Greenhouse Caf is currently open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and da Vinci’s is currently open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Hours of operation may change depending on student traffic and popularity.
